Caswell-Massey was established in 1752 by Dr. William Hunter in Newport, Rhode Island. A major trading center in colonial America, Newport was the port of entry for all ships laden with exotic cargo.
It was there, on Long Wharf, Dr. Hunter bought the precious oils and extracts he blended to create his original remedies and distinctive fragrances. Then, as now, only the finest ingredients were acceptable to our discerning clientele.
